Planned improvements to ver 1 (next version: ver 1.6)

🔐

Password protection for ZIP (AES)

Make it possible to set passwords on ZIP files too, with AES encryption.

⚡

Easier batch operation

Setting passwords will be processed in parallel, like checking, to make it faster. An exit code will report that files without passwords were found, and you will be able to specify folders to exclude from checking. This makes regular automatic checks easier.

Timing TBD (features TBD)

FPC v2

From "setting passwords" to a data leak prevention tool that finds unprotected important files and manages and reports on them together. It will also cover how to protect files inside the company after stopping PPAP (sending password-protected zip files by email, a common practice in Japan).

🕵️

Detect files containing personal information or My Number

Read file contents to find files containing personal information (names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses), My Number (Japan's individual number), credit card numbers and more. You can then protect "files without passwords that contain personal information" first.

🏷️

Support for moving to sensitivity labels (Microsoft Purview)

Also identify files protected with sensitivity labels (IRM), and support moving to protecting files with sensitivity labels instead of passwords. This is one way to protect files after stopping PPAP.

📊

Excel reports

Output check results to Excel and total the number of files without passwords by folder and by type. Use it as-is for audit and inventory reports.

🔁

Differences from the last check

Compared with the last check, list only newly added files and files whose password was removed.

☑️

Bulk setting from the screen

Make it possible to set passwords on screen, all at once, on files checked in the list.

🗝️

Automatic password generation and a password register

Generate a password for each file automatically and save it in an encrypted register. It can also be exported to CSV.

✏️

Change or remove passwords

Support changing and removing passwords on files whose password is known.

🗂️

More file types

Support 7z, RAR, OpenDocument (odt, ods, odp) and Office templates (xltx, dotx, potx and more).

🌐

Agents and a web version (cloud and on-premises)

Monitor, manage, change and audit password checks and settings for files on file servers from a web version through agents, including requests and approvals (workflow) for setting and removing passwords. There will be a SaaS version running in our cloud and an on-premises version running on your servers. We plan to build it on our web database Exment.

🚀

A single exe that runs on older servers

Rebuilt on the latest .NET (LTS) and distributed as a single exe that does not require installing .NET. It will also run on Windows Server 2016 and 2019. An English interface will also be supported.

Other features under consideration

✉️

Result notifications

Send the results of regular checks by email.

☁️

SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams

Make it possible to check passwords on files stored in the cloud too (integration with EOB).

📝

Improved logs

Add file modified date, size and owner to the log, and output it as CSV that opens directly in Excel.

🎨

Consistent license registration screen

Make the license registration screen look the same as the other screens.
